The Black Company has existed in permutation for an incredibly long time. There have been so many branches that there is no reasonable way to compare our modern organization to any of these former branches. We stand proudly as who we are now, that being a group of likeminded individuals set on helping the oppressed. Though we can not be compared in fine detail, our foundation remains the same. We believe in being stalwart sentinels in any fight against corruption. Flying our black flag against any oppressor. Our modern organization was founded by the independently wealthy Charles A. Blackstone, affectionately known as "Mr. Black." His family traces its origins to the knights of the Holy Roman Empire. Love and compassion has been ingrained in the family and its core beliefs just as much as the families disdain for corruption. This all reflects in the modern Black Company. To honor his ancestors Mr. Black has decided that it is time to become more public with his goals. In our modern climate a fight against tyranny in the shadows is no longer sustainable.
The Black Heap, Troops, or Company, depending on who you ask was called this in the 1500s to reflect the knights and peasants total ideological difference from the zeitgeist. They opposed the oppression of the Swabian League. The Black Company of today reflects this in opposing not only the oppression of modern day slaves but the oppression of all people, regardless of their beliefs. Fighting corruption as a whole in the name of justice.
Our roots truly come from Mr. Black's family and his families ideology. For most of his life Mr. Black has endeavored in the fight against human-trafficking in particular. Mr. Black recently suffered a terrible disfiguration and near death experience. With his life at threat and personally knowing many victims of human-trafficking Mr. Black has chosen to remain anonymous to continue helping them.
Though we'd love to share a little bit about the man, like his love for art and film. This has directed our organizations wildly unique approach to combatting human-trafficking.
Believing that being a patron of creative minds to help foster growth in the human spirit is a helpful way to spread positivity in such a chaotic world.
Then utilizing the wealth generated to help conduct sting operations, work with local law enforcement, NGO's, and other groups to shut down rings of traffickers and expose predators to the world. Along with a multitude of other strategies.
